An artist’s eye. A builder’s discipline.

I’m Christa Martin. I paint, I sculpt, and I take apart houses and put them back together better. The studio is the place where those turn out to be the same job.

I started the practice in Berkeley in 2010, in a 1958 Roger Lee house we lived in and slowly, carefully brought back. Dwell wrote about it when we sold. Since then the work has run through Bel Air, Malibu, the Hollywood Hills, and Kauai: research the architect, protect what matters, modernize the rest, and hang real art on the walls. Usually mine.

We moved to Palm Springs because it’s the best mid-century town in America and because the light is unreasonable. The studio now designs, manages construction, and stages architectural homes from Palm Springs, across the desert, and anywhere a good house needs us. The houses we finish have been in Dwell, Style by Emily Henderson, and IN BED Journal. More importantly, the people in them are happy.
