Staging / Staged with Art
Lynda Keeler
An abstract painter who maps Palm Springs on foot: pools, gardens, and mid-century rooflines gathered on daily walks. The first artist in the studio’s Staged with Art program.
Lynda Keeler paints the desert the way you actually move through it. Her abstract canvases map mid-century rooflines, manicured gardens, glimpses of backyard pools, and the curves of cul-de-sacs, all gathered on daily walks with her dog Keely through Palm Springs’ Little Tuscany, where the whole desert floor opens up below.
Look closely and the same marks keep returning: circles for the sun, for grapefruits, for swimming pools; arrows lifted straight off the road; now and then a hand or a foot to keep it human. Her latest series carries those motifs onto ceramic vases.
Based between Palm Springs and Los Angeles, she shows at Lawson-Fenning on Melrose, and her paintings hang around town at Janssen Artspace and the Ace Hotel’s Amigo Room. In 2021 she co-founded Desert Open Studios, which now opens the studios of 160 desert artists to the public each winter.
For Christa Martin Studio, Lynda is the natural first artist in Staged with Art: work that maps the exact neighborhoods our listings sit in, and that buyers can take home.
