A mid-century house by architect Bill Mack in the Santa Monica Mountains, bought structurally compromised and brought back in a three-month renovation that touched every system.

The palette came from the site: natural wood, cement, white paint, ocean blue. Ikea cabinet boxes wrapped in walnut plywood made a custom kitchen at a sane cost. Polished concrete floors run the length of the house, and an ancient rubber tree anchors the entry.

Christa’s sky paintings hang throughout, and the home became the subject of an IN BED Journal feature on how an artist lives with her own work.
